"Pada waktu itu, saya dimasukkan ke hospital kerana penyakit sinus, tapi ada yang melaporkan saya kemalangan dan meninggal dunia.
"Adik saya yang ketika itu dapat tahu menerusi media sosial, bergegas pulang ke kampung.
"Alhamdulillah dia selamat tiba, tapi jika sebaliknya - bukankah ia satu penganiayaan?" ujarnya ketika ditemui pada sidang media pelancaran Kempen Akhiri Buli Siber dan Penyebaran Maklumat Palsu di Kuala Lumpur hari ini.
Shahrol antara beberapa selebriti tempatan turut menyumbang usaha untuk menggerakkan kempen yang mendapat sokongan Suruhanjaya Komunikasi dan Multimedia Malaysia itu.
Menurut Juara Raja Lawak musim keenam melalui kumpulan Shiro itu, penyebaran berita palsu adalah pengalaman terburuk pernah dialami malah tidak memahami motif sebenar individu yang menyebarkan khabar berkenaan.
Oleh itu, katanya, wajar mana-mana pengguna alam siber yang menyebar fitnah dikenakan hukuman setimpal sekiranya didapati bersalah.
“Geng mak cik-mak cik bawang semakin membarah dan inilah yang mengakibatkan penyebaran berita palsu begini.
“Mereka gigih mahumenjalankan tugas wartawan tanpa tauliah selain berlumba-lumba menjadi yang terawal menyampaikan sesuatu berita sedangkan kesahihan berita itu tidak diketahui.
“Justeru saya berharap mak cik-mak cik bawang ini dapat dihapuskan,” katanya.
